The main character in our opening title sequence will wake up in a hospital gown. This is to make it clear to the audience that she a patient and makes her look vulnerable. To start with the gown is un stained, however later on in the sequence when the character turns into a zombie, it will have stains of blood on it like in the picture to the left. We plan on having the character drool blood out onto the gown whilst turning into a zombie to make it look more realistic and to avoid continuity errors.
Our opening title sequence features two other characters, both are seen as doctor/scientist figures operating and experimenting on our site of activity. In order to represent their characters we have got two white lab coats. Also we needed masks to cover their mouths as we plan to get shots of them operating, however we could not find real doctors masks and instead we are using white dust masks. We thought this would work equally well as we do not want the audience to view them as ordinary doctors.
We took inspiration for our costume from other horror films for example Gothika (2003) which is located in a mental hospital. We thought these were very effective as they made the characters look shabby and also vulnerable.
For the costumes of the doctors in our opening title sequence we used One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975) as inspiration. We wanted to have our doctors dressed in all white to suggest purity and innocence, however our doctors are far from this. We thought conveying our doctors as good would create great effect on our audience and our costumes will help highlight this.
