Plot
When initially planning our opening title sequence we wanted to create an atmosphere similar to that of a medical drama. This therefore gave us a key location idea, a hospital. This gave us the start point for our opening title sequence plot. We also decided from an early point to pursue the zombie sub genre for our horror film which gave us a lot of good ideas for plot. We did not want to follow the popular convention for zombie films and have the world in post apocalyptic state with a group of survivors as the focus. We therefore developed our plot meeting all of this criteria.
Our opening title sequence will begin with a girl waking up in an unfamiliar place, that is eventually revealed as a hospital. We think that having the girl unaware of whats going on will make her seem very vulnerable and cause the audience to wonder. We will see pov, low angle shots of the girl being operated on by male doctors. In order to break convention, our plot includes the doctors trying to create zombies rather than kill or cure them. Our main character will become a zombie after being experimented on and this will be shown by mid shots of her having what looks like a seizure. Our leading female character will then die on camera, leaving the audience in confusion before waking up as a red eyed, bloody zombie. Throughout this sequence, our character will also be having brief, quick flashbacks of herself being kidnapped, to show to the audience that the doctors are not really good people. We think this plot is affective as we plan to lead the audience into believing our character is safe in a hospital, however this is far from the truth. By ending our opening title sequence with the audience unaware what the doctors are doing it will cause them to want to see the rest of the movie to find out.
