What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Camera/Tripod
We used a Sony 5.3 megapixel video camera that enabled us to record moving image as well as take pictures of still images. These were the two main features of the video camera. It was useful to be able to also take still images with the camera to show our chosen location to film and we were able to incorporate these still images into our website. We also used a tripod to make sure our moving image was upright and not slanted. These used of the tripod helped our opening title sequence because it avoids shaky footage.
Final Cut Pro
In the process of constructing our product we used an editing software called Final Cut Pro. When editing a horror film it's key to understand film language this can mean understanding how lighting and sound change the outcome of a horror film. When we started filming our opening title sequence my group were only familiar with the Final Cut Pro software to a certain extent. The software helped us make the outcome of our opening sequence look very professional. The software enabled us to add sound, add credits, overlap sound and edit shots to make them fit into the convention of horror. When using the software we were able to add an effect to a shot to make it grey and dull to make it appear that a flashback has happened. The software allowed us to do colour grading which is modifying an images colours, saturation and contrast. The reason why this is used is because the visual element is a key part in making a horror film as it can make it look more intense. Once the editing was finished, in the final cut pro menu in enabled us to export our opening sequence and upload it onto YouTube.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is an internet software which people use search online. Google Chrome played a big part in our audience research in researching what people are looking at on other websites. The websites we used to search were Metacritic, Lovefilm, IMDb, Netflix, Box Office Guru and amazon. Google Chrome was very responsive and was very fast. We also used it to search up pictures, sound and videos which we used to build our site.
YouTube
We used YouTube to get the sounds we used in our media product, we also used Youtube as a source of inspiration for the media product we created. YouTube proved to be a great aspect to the completion of our media product as we used it to find idea and inspiration to make our opening title sequence. When users watch our title sequence, YouTube allow the users to share the video on social networks and give feedback. YouTube also enables users to view our opening title sequence in full HD.
Weebly
Weebly is a website which we used to create our opening title sequences website. This website allowed us to illustrate and showcase our ideas and knowledge about Horror. We decided to use this website builder instead of Dreamweaver because Weebly is much simpler and we were able to insert multimedia videos
