Google Trends
Google trends are a site which allows you to see what people are searching. When using the site it allows you to search a term and it will come up with results telling you how many people are searching that word up. Media institutions would use this to their advantage to see what new hot products are out. This Google feature I found was easy to use and locate what's trending. Although I failed to find which Horror films were trending I searched up films in general. The top two films on the list were horror 'Insidious and World War Z (2013). This suggests that currently zombie and supernatural film is most appealing to the Google audience.
While searching different terms it tells you which countries are searching that term most? It also gives you a timeline which has a volume line which shows the popularity of that term. These are screenshots which show an example of me using the site. I searched up the term 'Zombie' as it had relevance to our opening title sequence. From the results I received it showed that from 2005 to 2013 there is a massive increase in the popularity of that term. This is because of Recent Zombie films have come out and conspiracies of the Zombie apocalypse. The results also however show a slight dip which shows there is a great opportunity for our film to regain the popularity it once had in 2012. The results also show that the word 'Zombie' is most popularly searched up in Mexico.
